1.2 Searching in Salesforce

Updated on

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

Before moving on to this document, you must have completed the Getting Started document,  which outlines how to access Accounts.

1. After ensuring a contact exists (refer to “Getting Started”), return to the account and click on the ‘Details’ tab. Review specific information for this account such as Account Name, Site, Address, and contains the ‘Discount Multipliers’ for this specific Account/Site.

These discount multipliers apply to this specific account/site and Quick Quotes should be created from the site where the quote is going so these discounts will be applied on the quote. More information on discounts is provided in a later course.

2. Click on ‘Quick Quote’.

Clicking on the ‘Quick Quote’ button does a couple of things in the background such as creating an Opportunity (for forecasting) and defaulting some Quote field data (with account address, etc.).

3. You will initially land on the ‘Product Selection Screen’. On this screen there are multiple ways to search and find the product you are looking for

Global Search Filter

4. The global product search bar at the top searches across all products and attributes for what you type and is useful if the customer provides the part number.

4.1. For example, searching for ‘Stator’ finds the ‘Stator’ product and another, which has stator defined in an attribute or description.

4.2. If you search for “015-“ and click on the blue magnifying glass, all part numbers with that number convention will show up across all products/OEMs/etc.

4.3. To clear the search results, click the blue X in the global product search bar, and then click on the blue magnifying glass.

Product Search Filter

5. If instead of using the global product search, there are search filters if you click on the blue ‘funnel’ icon, a sidebar will appear on the right.

These filters are ‘Additive’, meaning if you add one and search, results will be restricted by that value. Then, if you add another filter on top, the results will be further restricted to only show products that meet both criteria.
