2.1 How to add a Product in Salesforce?

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

If you are in your quick quote, trying to add a part number and get no hits as shown below, you need to create the product in Salesforce.

1. Click on the Products tab.

2. Click the NEW button.

3. A new window will pop up.

4. Enter the required fields.

4.1. Product Name:  Your Part Number followed by -REP or -NEW or -REF or -OUT depending on the product price type.

4.2. Product Code:  Same as product name.

4.3. Product Price Type

4.4. OEM

4.5. Part Number

4.6. Product Description

5. Make sure the ACTIVE button is checked!

6. Scroll down to the PRICING tab.

7. Click the PRICE EDITABLE box.  This will allow you to override the price for this product in a quote.

8. Hit SAVE.

9. Go the RELATED tab in the product you just created.

10. Scroll down to PRICE BOOKS.

11. Click on ADD STANDARD PRICE.

12. Ensure the Active button is checked.

13. Enter a price.  The system requires a price of some kind - even if it is $0.00.

14. Click Save.

How to add a product in Salesforce  -  Read-Only - Word

In production, there will be a pick-list to choose between:

  • Needs validated
  • No validation needed
  • Validated
  • If creating product file that CSR needs pricing team to validate, please pick “Needs validated”
