Updated on

Steps in the screenshots correspond to the numbers in the headings.

In this article we will show you how to create a New contact in Salesforce and give that person access to eCommerce with a customer login.

In our example, we are going to add Victor Prouty as our contact at Prouty PPE, both are Test accounts.

2. Click “New”.

3. “Select Record Type” box will pop up, should always default to “Master Type”.

4. Click “Next”.

5. Start filling in the areas with red asterisks and the areas you know we will want to have: First name, last name, account name, email address, phone number, mobile number.

6. Make sure you add your contact name to the correct account!

Contact information is housed in a completely different table than accounts so you have to marry the two together .

7. Make sure that the contact has an email address and an eCommerce email address under the eCommerce User ID field.  The two email addresses do not need to be the same.  The eCommerce User ID will be the login ID for buy.advancedtech.com

8. Make sure that the eCommerce Access button is checked.  This will create the new contact in the eCommerce system.

10. If you click back on his contact under the details tab and scroll down, you should now see a number under eCommerce Customer ID.  This shows that the integration ran and created a new contact in Big Commerce, which is the eCommerce platform.  The contact now has a contact set up in eCommerce.

11. If you log into eCommerce as an administrator and navigate to the Customer section, you should see [email protected] as a newly created customer.
